Our services

VHP Australia promotes unity in diversity, social cohesion, multiculturalism, harmony, inclusiveness, and pluralism. It serves both the Hindu and wider Australian communities by working in partnership with local councils, and state and federal governments to foster peace, prosperity, and the cultural and economic benefits of Australia’s rich diversity.

vidya vihaar

The objective of Vidya Vihaar is educating culture, tradition, history and language amongst attending children with a view to developing future leaders.

The activities of Vidya Vihaar are conducted at two levels:

  • Bala Samskara Kendra (BSK) - for children from 5-12 years of age
  • Yuva Samskara Kendra (YSK) - for children from 13-17 years of age.

Both BSK and YSK classes are offered weekly on Sundays during school term from 2.30 PM to 5.00 PM at the following locations:.

Brisbane - Sunnybank State High School (entry through Turton Street), Sunnybank QLD 4109.

At BSK / YSK children are taught:

  • to speak, read and write Samskritam, since Samskritam language is an ancient language that forms the foundation for our Vedas and other scriptures.
  • the essential values that underpin Hindu Dharma
  • shlokas
  • value education from Hindu scriptures and;
  • their own mother tongue (where offered) 
  • the significance of Hindu festivals  and how they are celebrated in Bharat and other parts of the world 
  • traditional Indian games, yoga and exercise for everyday practice to make them strong and develop teamwork skills. BSK / YSK believes that a healthy mind and healthy body are important for all round development of a child 
  • to develop soft skills and leadership qualities to become future Hindu Youth Leaders.

Vedic and Cultural Centre of Australia (VCCA)

Vedic and Cultural Centre of Australia (VCCA) is a not-for-profit establishment that facilitates preserving and promoting Vedic traditions, Vedic Culture and Samskritam language for the current and future generations of Australia.  VCCA, was launched in Queensland in 2012. The focus of VCCA Qld Chapter is to promote vedic chanting amongst all sections of our the Hindu community. Some of its main activities include:
- Monthly Rudram Chanting and Shiva Abhishekam in various temples

  • Monthly Veda parayanam in Sri Selva Vinayakar Kovil temple, South Maclean (Sri Selva Vinayakar Temple, Brisbane, Queensland,Australia)
  • Monthly Lalitha Sahasranamam chanting (on pournami day) at Sri Durga Venkatesha temple - Shree Venkatesa Durga Temple (brisbanedurgatemple.com)
  • Weekly Vedic chanting class (Mahanyasam)
  • Weekly online Lalitha Sahasranamam Chanting
  • Semiannual Lalitha Sahasranam Puja
  • Annual Ekadasha Rudhram
  • Home chanting as per the request

Hindu Helpline

Hindu Helpline is a free, professional, and confidential telephone counselling and e-mail inquiry service, available 24x7 every day of the year.

  • We are here to listen, support and empathise. We aim to assist, support and guide on one-on-one basis, on the issues including but not limited to:
    • General Health and Wellbeing
    • New Migrants settlement services
    • Bullying and Racism
    • Relationship Issues, Domestic Violence and Abuse
    • Depression and Mental Health Issues
    • Problems at school or home or discrimination within the workplace
    • Religious information, guidance, and assistance
    • Other Issues regarding matters of Hindu faith
    • Administrative and legal guidance.

Hindu Women Forum(HWF)

The Hindu Women Forum conducts events such as parenting workshops, women empowerment programs, motivational talks and also provides assistance to women going through challenges including mental health issues and domestic violence.

Hindu Youth Australia

The aim of the HOTA forum is to bring together all Hindu organisations, temples, associations, institutions and sampradayas, working in various fields onto one common platform to share, discuss and contribute in resolving common issues. HOTA was launched in Australia at the Third Australian National Conference in Sydney in 2014 and in Queensland in September 2014. HOTA also helps facilitate / assist people from the community to take up Chaplaincy training and enrolment with various government institutions, e.g., the Australian Defence.

Hindu Organisations, Temples and Associations (HOTA)

Hindu Social Services Foundation (HSSF)

The Hindu Social Services Foundation (HSSF) organizes special annual programs for all people with special needs, their carers and elderly people. It also provides support and services to the community during crisis situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our Aspire Leadership program offers training for:

  • Public Speaking
  • Time Management
  • Achieve personal Goals

Hindu Chaplaincy service in:

  • Griffith University – Nathan Campus
  • Griffith University – Gold Coast Campus
  • Queensland University of Technology

Other actvities

  • Hindu Students Welcome Dinner (Dinner sponsored by the University)
  • Monthly Prayer session (Dinner prepared by VHP volunteers)
  • Deepavali Celebration (Dinner sponsored by the University)

Religious Instructions in Mainstream Schools

Vishva Hindu Parishad of Australia Inc. is authorised by the Queensland Department of Education to teach Hindu Dharma classes in Public Schools as a part of Religious Instruction (RI) program.

Currently 5 Public state schools in Brisbane are covered under this program where children learn Hindu Dharma every week.  Our volunteers provide this service through the educational wing of VHP of Aust (Qld).
