THE 9TH AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL HINDU CONFERENCE

The 9th Australian National Hindu Conference, themed “Building Communities, Powering Australia,” concluded successfully in Brisbane on Saturday, 9 May 2026, bringing together Hindu leaders, academics, youth representatives, policymakers, temple representatives, and community organisations from across Australia. Hosted by the Queensland Chapter of the Vishva Hindu Parishad of Australia (VHP Australia) at the VOCO Hotel, Brisbane, the Conference attracted about 200 delegates from various states and territories. The event served as a national platform to discuss how Hindu Australians can continue contributing meaningfully to Australia’s economy, science and technology, healthcare, public administration, politics, and broader Australian society. Below are a few photos from the event.  View all photos in the photo album. To find out more about the event, read the post-conference media release.

    annual Family friendly activities

Woman helps child perform Hindu ritual with offerings and Shiva idol.

At Vidya Vihaar, education wing of VHP Qld, we celebrate a variety of Hindu festivals throughout the year that bring our community together in joy and unity. These events are also an opportunity to introduce the next generation of Australian Hindus to the richness and diversity of our cultural traditions.

Children are taught the significance of each festival, how it is celebrated in different parts of Bharat (regional differences), method of celebrating it, the specific prasad that is prepared for the festival.

Of these festivals, Makarasankranthi/Pongal and Ganesh Chaturthi, are celebrated as community festivals where the local community also are invited to participate.

Through the Vedic and Cultural Centre of Australia (VCCA), Qld Chapter, we also perform community prayers or pujas like Sri Hayagriva and Ma Saraswathi puja at the beginning of the academic year, Sri Ekadasha Rudram and Sri Lalithaambika puja.
